For all successful projects, it is crucial to be able to plan, keep track of, and record the various project elements as they progress. Web Design is no different.

Kanban is a Japanese systematic method of planning and controlling projects in a visual way invented by Toyota in the 1950's. (Kanban literally means 'visual card').

At AWD and other parts of our group, we use it to turn our ideas into workable plans and then control projects to successful fruition. One of the Apps we now use for this is WipQ by Aggmedia, run by a very experienced developer, Richard Bennett in Sydney, Australia. Although we did have some 'teething problems' when first using the App, Richard was very responsive to our technical feedback and also many of our suggestions were subsequently incorporated into the latest version of the App, making it much more useful. This productivity App is available on the Mac App Store and is also available for iOS (i.e. iPhone and iPad).

What is particularly nice about this adaptable tool is it uses native macOS and iOS interfaces (not generic web ones) and the data can be stored just on your local device, or on iCloud Drive (i.e. not on some third party server with another login required). You own the data and it can all be exported at any time to standard CSV, XML or JSON files. Users are therefore not 'tied in' to the App.

We can recommend it for solo professionals and small teams who needs to plan and control one or many projects.
